Transcript -  Webinar - Half Double Certifications

good morning everybody

00:03

and uh most welcome to this morning

00:06

session

00:06

this webinar about the half double um

00:11

me and my uh my co-host johan ulbek from

00:14

implement have really been looking

00:15

forward to

00:16

to meeting you on the this webinar uh

00:19

which is the third in a series of four

00:22

webinar

00:23

that have been organized between the

00:25

half double institute

00:26

and the danish project management

00:28

organization

00:30

the first one held about a couple of

00:32

weeks ago was about the methodology

00:35

in general then the second one earlier

00:38

this week about

00:39

half double applied in projects and

00:41

portfolios and

00:42

now there's a third webinar about the

00:45

half double

00:46

certification program and then there is

00:48

no before

00:49

i think it's next week which is about

00:51

all the research

00:53

results that have been produced about

00:56

half double um

01:00

i am uh i'm jasper schreiner and i

01:03

am the managing director of the danish

01:05

project management association and the

01:07

reason why i'm here today is

01:09

that the danish project management

01:11

association has

01:13

actually been chosen as a service

01:14

provider for the half double institute

01:17

of the upcoming half double

01:18

certification program

01:20

and quite naturally we have then also

01:23

been involved and are quite

01:25

heavily involved in the development of

01:27

the certification program

01:29

and now over to you john thank you very

01:31

much so my name is

01:32

johan obeck i work here at the implement

01:34

consulting group

01:35

and i have been attending this half

01:38

double journey more or less since the

01:40

beginning

01:40

in a close cooperation with the heavenly

01:43

danish industrial foundation

01:45

and we are launching this

01:48

certification now and in in order to

01:51

this

01:52

we have made this this webinar here so

01:54

we look very much forward to

01:56

introduce it to you so you can have an

01:58

idea about

02:00

what this contains

02:09

let's have a look at the agenda for this

02:11

webinar um

02:13

we are now at the welcome session and

02:14

the introduction and um

02:17

moving to the agenda um first we'll just

02:20

give you a very short introduction that

02:22

maybe it would be a recap for some of

02:23

you

02:24

um about the half double uh methodology

02:27

which which we call a half double in a

02:29

nutshell that's that's about the

02:31

methodology in general

02:33

and then we will move to the the

02:35

certifications level

02:36

uh levels that we are introducing uh

02:39

with the certification program we will

02:40

take you through a tour of the force

02:42

uh through the certification journey uh

02:46

and then we will deep dive a little more

02:49

into each of the three levels

02:51

the half double foundation certification

02:53

the practitioner certification

02:55

and the master certification and then

02:58

finally

02:58

summing up with taking a look at the

03:00

roadmap what are our plans

03:03

for the near future and for next year by

03:05

the way

03:06

and then just for your information

03:10

um you probably have questions we really

03:13

hope you have questions to us

03:15

and and then please post your questions

03:18

write your questions in the q and

03:20

a section if you look at the bottom of

03:22

your screen

03:23

you have a chat you can raise your hand

03:25

and there is

03:28

a call for action button for q a write

03:31

your questions there

03:32

and then approximately a quarter to 10

03:36

we we will um stop our presentation

03:39

our slide deck and and and answer as

03:42

many of your questions as possible

03:45

furthermore just for your information if

03:47

you have any problems

03:49

uh with your sound or whatever it may be

03:52

we have patrick here as our assistant

03:54

and he will be watching the the the the

03:57

chat

03:58

so right just write your your questions

04:00

or your comments there and pets will

04:02

follow up immediately

04:04

okay but let's go and get started now um

04:08

so uh over to you yarn and the first

04:10

thing we'll look at is uh

04:12

is is half double in a nutshell thank

04:15

you very much especially

04:16

so yes oh yeah sorry

04:20

sorry so before we get started yeah i

04:22

should also inform you that we have

04:24

prepared three polls for you

04:26

um and this is the first one just before

04:28

we get started we would really like to

04:30

know about

04:30

uh some about your background in terms

04:33

of project management certifications

04:35

uh so the questions to you is um do you

04:38

have one or more

04:40

pm certifications you can choose between

04:42

these

04:43

uh these five here or maybe you have

04:45

some others

04:46

and um and then uh it's possible for uh

04:49

for you to give multiple answers so if

04:51

you have more please indicate

04:53

so please go on and and give your

04:55

answers

04:59

a lot of activity is going on here yes

05:02

to see

05:14

all right let's give it a little more

05:17

okay

05:20

let's go to launch

05:23

so what do we have

05:26

i think uh prince2 uh ipma and

05:29

the scrum is the winner yeah has the

05:32

most

05:33

so and that's quite a lot of

05:37

others as well it could be interesting

05:39

to deep dive a little bit into that that

05:41

must be another

05:42

on another webinar okay uh thank you

05:45

very much now we have a brief overview

05:46

of

05:47

of your background thank you and now to

05:49

yearn sorry for

05:51

you missed it thank you so

05:54

as jesper said maybe this is something

05:58

some of you have heard before but we

06:00

just take a very brief

06:01

inflight on what is half double actually

06:04

for those of you

06:06

who don't know it or maybe haven't heard

06:07

that much about it

06:09

so half probably consists of three

06:12

major areas and which is a

06:16

impact flow and leadership and on this

06:18

slide here you see we also have the

06:20

local translation

06:21

because when you work with impactflow

06:23

leadership it's

06:24

of course very important that you

06:26

translate it

06:28

to the local circumstances so you don't

06:30

do too much

06:31

do or do too little or due to the

06:34

current situation

06:35

so you can say working with impact here

06:38

it's

06:38

it's very much about having a focus

06:41

on effect and not having that

06:45

strict focus we're used to on the

06:47

deliverables

06:50

the flow thing here is is about

06:53

creating a focus on the speed the

06:56

progress and so on

06:58

and move away from these endless

07:00

discussions about resources and so forth

07:03

we of course aware of that the resources

07:05

is

07:06

limited in most situations of course

07:08

they are

07:09

but if we can focus on the progress that

07:12

makes it

07:13

makes it even better and the leadership

07:16

is is about moving away from this

07:19

formalism that we usually have

07:21

with the steering committee and we have

07:23

to knock on the door as a project

07:25

manager

07:26

and and kindly are asked to produce what

07:29

we are

07:30

doing here leadership is very much about

07:33

bringing

07:33

people together both

07:37

the project owner and of course the

07:38

project team and project manager

07:40

so they cooperate on succeeding and the

07:43

local translation is as i said

07:45

just to tailor it to the given situation

07:51

so this here some of you have probably

07:54

seen

07:55

and we have the half double methodology

07:59

in the middle and then we have the core

08:01

elements

08:02

impact flow leadership and for each of

08:06

these

08:06

three major areas we have three methods

08:10

and we have three tools

08:13

half double is not about doing it in

08:16

that

08:16

precise way we can for example work with

08:20

impact and benefit realizations using

08:22

different tools

08:23

i can come back to that in in a minute

08:26

but this one here

08:27

sums it all up and it gives a quite a

08:30

good overview of what half double is

08:32

about looking at this

08:37

then we have working with the

08:40

impact then we have a key principle and

08:42

the key principle here is

08:44

that stakeholder satisfaction is the

08:46

ultimate success criteria

08:48

meaning that we are striving for

08:52

for for the satisfaction from the key

08:55

stakeholders

08:56

we built an impact case and worked with

08:59

impact tracking

09:00

during the process we built an impact

09:03

solution design making sure

09:05

that we create benefits as fast as

09:08

possible

09:09

and we keep a close track record on on

09:12

the satisfaction among stakeholders

09:14

by using pulse checks

09:18

when we're working with flow then we say

09:21

that

09:21

it needs to be 50 allocation to the

09:24

project from the

09:25

core team members it doesn't have to be

09:28

everyone

09:29

but if if there are too few then we

09:32

usually experience that we don't have

09:34

the progress

09:36

we need to kill the errors also the

09:38

rhythm and the key events

09:40

meaning that we need to have a fixed

09:43

heartbeat

09:43

throughout the project and we also have

09:46

to work with visual planning

09:48

and project visuals it doesn't have to

09:50

be

09:51

cast on the wall it can be a different

09:54

virtual tools as well and the key

09:56

principle here

09:58

is high intensity and frequent

10:00

interactions

10:02

working with leadership here the key

10:05

principle is

10:06

that leadership must embrace uncertainty

10:08

because

10:09

projects are defined with uncertainty

10:12

and if we don't do that then we are too

10:14

strict and we don't see these different

10:17

possibilities that actually appears

10:20

so we have a active ownership approach

10:23

meaning that we

10:24

need the allocation of the project owner

10:27

at least two hours in the project

10:29

every week we need from the project

10:31

manager a collaborative leadership

10:33

approach

10:34

meaning people first approach and we

10:36

also have the

10:37

the reflexive and adaptive mindset so

10:40

we're actually actually

10:42

agile according to changes in the

10:45

project and

10:46

the environment and to the end here

10:49

we have the local translation meaning

10:52

that

10:52

we have the principle there is no

10:54

one-size-fits-all

10:56

and this is very much about

10:59

what are the conditions what's the

11:01

mindset we need to prep to make sure

11:03

that people they can

11:04

grasp this we also need this governance

11:09

approach so we make sure that we don't

11:12

put in

11:13

too much and then we have the half

11:15

double reflexive tool meaning that

11:17

when we work with half double it's a

11:19

very good idea to have an

11:20

internal standard to check on how are we

11:23

actually doing this because sometimes we

11:27

tend to fall back to our old

11:30

behaviors this was a very fast fly-in on

11:34

half double in a nutshell and

11:37

yes yes please and just remind you

11:41

if you have any questions to this um or

11:43

journal this was very

11:44

brief very little fast introduction to a

11:47

recap of the methodology so please

11:50

form your formulate your questions in

11:52

the q a section and we will

11:53

catch up on the later oh yeah

11:57

let's just summarize um why consider the

12:00

why consider half double

12:02

and um what in our view

12:06

we really think that um that the half

12:09

double will

12:10

will inspire our society in general to

12:14

further grow competences

12:15

in in managing projects and and agile

12:17

assignments

12:18

and that's what it's really all about

12:19

that's also the mission of the danish

12:21

project management association

12:23

so the question why are we here we are

12:25

here because we want to contribute

12:27

to to really raise uh the the

12:30

the level of competences in general

12:33

throughout the project society in

12:34

denmark

12:36

and this half double would definitely uh

12:39

contribute to that in our view

12:43

and no doubt um

12:46

with its very very strong focus on on

12:49

impact

12:50

which is quite unique actually uh we we

12:52

are quite sure that

12:54

that that half double will contribute to

12:56

raising the old success rate of projects

12:58

and ftl assignments portfolio

13:00

for that matter and and at the end of

13:02

the day this is what it's all about

13:04

that we as this project society in

13:07

denmark can be more successful

13:09

with our projects and that means that we

13:11

can create

13:13

more value for our stakeholders

13:16

using less resources and resources in in

13:19

this context

13:20

is also about time less time time is

13:23

precious

13:24

time is money uh

13:27

so um finally we really see it as a

13:30

as a compelling novelty uh and founding

13:34

on

13:34

what we say here is an open is generic

13:37

uh it's

13:38

it's not business specific it's not

13:40

sector specific uh

13:41

it's for the private sector it's for the

13:43

public sector for all businesses

13:45

actually and and and and it's not rocket

13:49

science and there's no revolution in it

13:51

uh if you take each of the nine method

13:53

elements uh i think most of you

13:55

have heard it before but i think the the

13:58

the

13:58

what's quite clever done is putting

14:01

these

14:02

nine methods together and forming a

14:04

methodology

14:05

that's what's so unique about it and and

14:08

and quite compelling

14:09

in our view so i think um here are the

14:12

answers to the question why i think

14:14

that it's worth considering half double

14:17

introducing it uh using it maybe not

14:20

everything but

14:21

but part of it will work as well and and

14:24

um as a next step

14:25

considered also to to to becoming uh

14:29

certified within the half double uh

14:31

methodology which we were going to to

14:34

dive into

14:34

uh um in the next step here

14:38

uh let's just catch up a little uh we

14:41

have a

14:42

poll number two for you here and that

14:44

refers to the three core elements of

14:47

impact flow and leadership just uh to

14:49

ask you to uh

14:51

about for a little reflection here if

14:53

you take a look at your organization

14:55

where do you find uh there will be most

14:57

room for improvement

14:59

with an impact flow or leadership only

15:01

one answer

15:02

is is possible here and you'll have a

15:04

little take your time

15:06

before you give your answer we'll give

15:08

you 60 seconds

15:09

here so just take your time

15:21

so impact is in here

15:24

now okay leadership is approaching

15:34

it's actually very close yeah

15:43

so yes but what would you conclude from

15:47

this

15:47

result here yeah i would also if you'd

15:49

asked me what what do you think would be

15:51

uh

15:51

where would you have the most answers

15:52

and i would have said impact as well

15:55

um and i think that

15:58

over the past 10 15 years we have been i

16:01

think we have been shifting our focus

16:03

um or to towards

16:07

um impact value from

16:10

traditional deliverables

16:12

[Music]

16:14

and to the the value that we need to

16:17

gain from the deliverables

16:19

has been quite a lot of focus on that

16:20

over the past 10 15 years so

16:22

so introducing half double and with with

16:25

impact that's one of the core element i

16:27

i i would have expected you to also that

16:30

most of the answers

16:31

would fall into this uh on on this topic

16:34

but leadership as well yeah as number as

16:36

number three yeah and

16:38

and not that's not not that surprising i

16:41

think

16:42

i would say that um looking at this

16:44

we've been talking very much about

16:45

impact the last 10 15 years

16:48

but analyzing the project's success then

16:51

we still see

16:52

that it's only approximately 30 of the

16:55

projects that actually deliver the

16:57

expected

16:57

impact and one of the reasons for

17:01

developing half gobble is that there is

17:03

an enormous potential

17:05

for example in the german economy it's

17:07

uh it's more than one-third

17:10

of the total economy which is based on

17:13

projects

17:14

and if we take that only approximately

17:16

30

17:17

of them succeed of course it depends on

17:19

how you measure it yeah

17:20

then the potential is of course enormous

17:22

and the same actually counts for

17:25

for denmark so a stronger focus and

17:28

actually following up on the impact is

17:30

important

17:32

but also i see here the leadership part

17:34

that is very difficult for

17:35

project managers to succeed if there is

17:38

not a substantial amount of support from

17:42

from the project owner and from from the

17:44

leadership in the organization

17:47

and of course the flow is uh is also

17:50

this to have a steady rhythm to make

17:51

sure that

17:52

we keep a constant pace and so on and

17:55

don't fall in the traps where

17:56

sometimes we're busy and other times we

17:58

just just losing it

18:00

so thank you very much for uh for

18:03

uh answering this this poll here it's

18:07

it's important knowledge for us so we

18:09

can definitely use it

18:10

yeah valuable feedback thank you very

18:12

much and and i think that brings us now

18:15

to um

18:15

to the main section here of the webinar

18:17

namely the half double certification so

18:20

let's

18:20

let's go and get started and deep dive a

18:22

little more into that

18:24

let's do that so we have the

18:28

certification and it's important to say

18:32

here now i

18:33

i work with implement but in this

18:36

setting here

18:37

i represent the half double institute

18:41

uh is a non-profit organization and

18:45

and implement is actually just a partner

18:47

organization like

18:48

many other organizations are so i

18:51

represent

18:52

the institute and not implement in this

18:54

matter here

18:56

so looking at the at

19:00

the different levels here at the half

19:02

double certification then of course

19:04

some of you have heard about it there

19:06

will be some preparation for this

19:08

certification journey here

19:10

and some some study on your own and

19:13

usually people they react to it some

19:15

find it fascinating inspiring

19:18

difficult and so forth the first level

19:21

of this certification is what we call

19:24

the foundation

19:25

and this is more focusing on i

19:28

understand what half double

19:30

is i see the possibilities i know

19:33

what options there are how it works

19:36

together and so on i have an

19:38

understanding of

19:39

how this could fit in my own

19:41

organization and so forth

19:44

the next level is the practitioner

19:46

certification level

19:47

and this there's actually a demand to

19:50

have this certification here that you

19:53

have practiced half double

19:54

meaning that you shall take some of the

19:57

tools

19:58

at least one tool from impact

20:01

flow and leadership and implement it

20:04

into

20:05

it can be a project but of course if you

20:07

have some more daily operation where it

20:09

can fit

20:10

that can do but you have to do it

20:13

you have to reflect upon it you have to

20:16

look

20:16

into why did it go as it did what went

20:19

well what didn't and so forth what will

20:21

you do different

20:22

the next time at the practitioner

20:25

certification level we don't expect you

20:27

to succeed in the matter that you create

20:30

create the business impact

20:33

but you shall do it you should reflect

20:35

upon it and you shall

20:38

show that you can do it even better the

20:40

next time

20:42

the master certification level which is

20:44

the highest level here at the

20:45

at half top is where you succeed with

20:48

half double

20:49

meaning that you shall of course

20:52

implement it

20:53

but you shall also do it in a way so you

20:56

create a business change it to the

21:00

better obvious

21:02

and you have to document this so we have

21:04

split it up in

21:06

three different levels i understand i

21:08

practice

21:09

i succeed and when we are examining

21:14

all the other types of certifications

21:17

then we don't see anyone where we have

21:21

the

21:21

highest level here i succeed where we

21:23

can

21:24

document that we have obtained a

21:27

business

21:28

impact due to our certification there

21:31

are many other really really nice

21:32

certifications i have

21:34

several myself but usually

21:37

it's uh it ends with how do i do it how

21:40

do i

21:41

practice it so just double clicking

21:44

on on these here we have uh

21:48

we have the certification journey here

21:50

uh how it

21:51

how it works and when you're interested

21:54

then you

21:55

usually sign up and you sign up with a

21:58

partner organization

21:59

who is providing this training course

22:01

here there will be different amounts of

22:04

pre-work it depends very much on the

22:06

partner organizations

22:07

what they think is necessary how it fits

22:11

into the program

22:12

that they mean is the best for making

22:15

you

22:15

a successful candidate later on then

22:18

there will be a three day

22:20

ignite training session where you get

22:23

all the basics

22:25

on impact flow leadership and local

22:27

translation

22:28

and you have a quite deep insight in

22:32

what is

22:32

half double actually all about in the

22:35

end

22:36

or for these three days here there will

22:38

be the foundation certification

22:41

which is a multiple choice examination

22:43

and when you pass that one

22:45

you are you are foundation certified

22:50

if you want to move on and hopefully you

22:53

will

22:54

then then you start writing

22:58

what we call a reflection paper because

23:00

then you have to take some of the

23:02

learnings into use

23:04

you start and there's a template for

23:06

this of course

23:07

and what thoughts how will you apply

23:11

what difficulties do you expect and so

23:13

forth

23:14

and then we will have half a day virtual

23:18

boost training session and again if a

23:20

partner organization decides that

23:22

can be tailored in another way then

23:25

then they're free to do that

23:28

after the boost we also have a

23:30

practitioner class

23:32

a training session where we put

23:35

all the last thing in how to really

23:38

adapt this

23:38

into your organization and then

23:42

we have an application a certification

23:44

application

23:45

and when you have delivered that one

23:48

then you can go to the practitioner

23:50

certification

23:51

which is an oral examination

23:54

where we so to speak the institute deep

23:56

dives into some of the topics you have

23:58

described and

24:00

and we challenge you maybe in a nice and

24:03

caring way

24:04

so we get an idea about how do we

24:06

actually apply this

24:08

if you want to move on then of course

24:11

it's a it's a good thing if you have a

24:13

proper project where you can do these

24:14

things

24:15

but there will be a master class

24:17

training session

24:20

um where we tailor it more

24:23

into your specific needs because we also

24:26

expect that

24:27

a lot of people will take the foundation

24:30

a lot but not as many will take the

24:32

practitioner

24:33

and maybe a bit fewer who will take take

24:36

the master class obviously

24:38

so it will be more tailored into the

24:40

into the personal needs and so on

24:42

there will also be this application on a

24:45

much deeper

24:46

level and then then there is also an

24:49

oral examination and when that is passed

24:51

then you are certified half double

24:53

master according to

24:57

to recertification then the foundation

25:00

is for life

25:02

because it's knowledge but when we look

25:05

at

25:06

the practitioner and the master

25:07

certification then it has to be renewed

25:10

with a one-hour interview every three

25:12

year

25:14

this also means that some of you maybe

25:16

already have

25:18

a certification from one of our partner

25:21

organizations

25:22

that also last we've decided for three

25:25

years

25:26

from the day that you obtained it

25:29

when you want to still call yourself a

25:31

half double practitioner for example

25:33

then yeah then you have to sign up and

25:36

you will be contacted if

25:38

that's the case so

25:41

and again a quick brief uh run

25:44

run through here so if you have any

25:47

questions to these three

25:48

certification levels please write it in

25:51

the q a

25:52

and we will follow up after this um

25:56

this speech here yes do you have any

25:59

comments to

26:00

these no not to the journey i will not

26:02

deep dive a little more into each of the

26:04

three levels

26:05

that's very good yeah i hand you this so

26:07

yeah that was just um

26:10

a preview a a tour divorce through the

26:14

the certification process uh so now you

26:16

know

26:17

um what is involved if you consider

26:19

becoming uh certified in

26:21

in in half doubling methodology um let's

26:24

deep dive a little more into each of the

26:26

three levels

26:27

um the foundational level

26:30

uh as john said you you really have to

26:32

climb your way up the pyramid

26:34

here so you have to uh you all have to

26:36

start at

26:37

at the foundation level you just can't

26:40

jump into the master level or

26:41

practitioner level you have to start

26:43

here and

26:44

as i said um what does it mean to be

26:47

certified

26:48

a half double foundation

26:51

certified it means that i it's all about

26:54

knowledge

26:55

um i i understand half double

26:58

so i have studied it i have i've read

27:01

i've studied i understand it

27:03

that's what it's all about if you look

27:05

at the prerequisites or

27:06

the the the um the criteria that you

27:09

need to fulfill

27:10

i would say that it's it's mandatory

27:13

that you you study

27:14

the the compendium and then of course it

27:17

would be

27:18

um to your benefit definitely if you

27:21

have

27:21

some more broad knowledge and experience

27:25

practicing project management um

27:27

definitely um that will bring you in in

27:30

a very good position

27:31

also to understand what half double is

27:34

all about

27:35

and it may be it looks rather uh

27:38

simple maybe or easy but when you when

27:40

you read it

27:41

and and if you have some experience from

27:44

practicing project management in the

27:45

past

27:46

you also know that it's maybe it's not

27:49

as easy as it looks

27:50

so the more experienced you are the the

27:53

the better your position

27:54

is and to really get something out of it

27:57

and

27:57

and be a very good user of half double

28:00

but anyway um you you start

28:04

the training course is mandatory so so

28:07

before you can get to the examination

28:08

you have to pass the

28:10

or take the train the ignite training

28:12

course which is

28:13

very much about the the compendium the

28:16

theory about

28:16

uh the half double methodology and that

28:19

will bring you in the position to

28:20

to sign up for the examination with a

28:22

one hour written examination

28:24

uh a 100 multiple choice which means

28:26

that the in the fully digitalized

28:29

so you will almost immediately get your

28:32

result whether you have passed or no or

28:33

not passed and

28:35

and following that if you pass of course

28:38

a certificate will be issued

28:41

just to summarize what is this about

28:43

it's about knowledge it's about

28:44

understanding what half double is about

28:47

and

28:48

and and why simply because if you want

28:50

to be a good

28:51

to be a good practitioner and maybe

28:54

finally also a master you really need to

28:56

understand

28:57

theory first quite naturally and and the

29:00

target group here is very very broad

29:02

everybody who's interested in

29:04

in in practicing project management they

29:06

can be traditional it can be plant

29:07

driven it can be agile as some and

29:09

whatever

29:10

of course the the methodology and when

29:13

you start it you will see that it is

29:14

mainly driven by

29:16

uh by the agile mindset so it's it's

29:19

it's mostly a pre

29:20

applicable for for agile assignments but

29:22

definitely it can also be used for more

29:24

traditional or elements of

29:25

it absolutely so i would say the target

29:28

group is is very very broad

29:31

um yeah let's take let's let's

29:34

let's move on and and take a more close

29:37

look at what the practitioner

29:38

certification is all about

29:40

um the question the prerequisite is yeah

29:43

you need

29:44

to be uh to be certified half dollar

29:47

in a foundation before you can

29:51

register for the the practitioner

29:55

certification

29:56

and then again uh you you need to

30:00

come back to the training room for the

30:02

boost session

30:05

and following that you will

30:08

um write your reflection page this is

30:10

mainly for your

30:12

uh for the for the uh other people you

30:15

are um

30:16

you are on the training course so so

30:19

it's all about

30:21

proving that you are able to reflect on

30:23

what you have

30:24

uh what you have started and what to

30:26

have practiced because now you start to

30:27

practice half double

30:29

and the you being able to actually

30:32

reflect on what works and what doesn't

30:33

work

30:34

is is quite important so you start

30:35

training it here

30:37

uh before you come to the practitioner

30:39

training session

30:40

and which leads you to one of the main

30:43

touch points here when we're talking

30:44

about the practitioner certification

30:46

namely the application for the half

30:48

double practitioner certification

30:51

and that is a report about seven eight

30:53

pages

30:54

normal pages uh you have to document

30:56

there you have to prove that you have

30:58

actually been practicing half double

31:00

and and furthermore you had to document

31:04

at least

31:05

that you have used at least one method

31:07

from each of the three columns so

31:09

that means one method from the impact

31:11

section one method from the

31:13

flow section and one method from the

31:15

leadership section

31:16

at least simply to document that you are

31:20

not only specialized in

31:22

impact because that's what's most

31:24

important for you referring to the

31:25

where do you find most room for for

31:27

improvement you need to cover

31:29

it all and

31:32

uh again you you were you you have to

31:36

to write what were your learnings what

31:38

were your reflections

31:39

what worked and what didn't work and why

31:42

uh and simply because when you reach the

31:45

the time of the interview uh of course

31:48

your report

31:49

uh will be you or your application

31:51

report will be

31:53

um the interview based on what you have

31:56

written in your report of course

31:58

uh so so um there will be an assessor

32:01

there and

32:02

and and and the trainer your trainer

32:04

from the uh

32:05

from the boost and that and the

32:06

practitioner training course will also

32:08

be there

32:09

can you just elaborate a little about

32:12

how the certification the the oral

32:14

practitioner exam is conducted because

32:17

you have

32:17

worked yes yes yeah uh sure i can yeah

32:20

we've been

32:21

doing some tests um here in in the first

32:24

half of 2020 we're very promising

32:26

results

32:27

so we have already done around 10

32:30

interviews

32:31

and um it will it it will be

32:35

the the the assessor and the trainer

32:37

which have actually based on the report

32:40

have prepared questions uh simply to

32:43

um to them

32:47

of course we have the result of the

32:48

examination as well from the foundation

32:50

we have that as well

32:51

and and then we have the report and

32:53

there might be areas where we can see

32:55

well here

32:56

that the the candidate is really

32:58

performing well

32:59

but here's an area where we're not quite

33:01

sure so the interview is

33:03

actually for the benefit or if there are

33:05

any doubts

33:06

it's through the it's the benefit of

33:08

doubt for the candidate

33:10

so so if if if they're not

33:13

enough evidence in the report um the

33:16

interview

33:17

will will you can see it as here i have

33:19

a chance really to explain what i didn't

33:21

explain the repo

33:23

so that's that's the job for the uh

33:26

that's the obligation that the assessors

33:28

have simply to

33:29

use the interview in the right way to

33:31

cover areas where we haven't seen enough

33:33

proof

33:34

that this is actually this candidate

33:36

here

33:37

is ready uh for or or uh

33:40

as adequately competent for a

33:43

partition of certification so yeah this

33:46

is how it works

33:47

and again and it's the intention and

33:50

it's also the intention to

33:52

when you have when you have been to this

33:54

uh this certification here

33:56

you are much better off for actually

33:58

going to even more

33:59

half double in your organization so

34:02

there will also be a lot of feedback and

34:03

good advices and discussions

34:06

within the certification how to do this

34:09

even more even more efficient in the

34:12

future

34:12

yeah and again focus here is on practice

34:17

and so so no no question about it

34:20

the candidate needs to prove to document

34:23

that

34:23

he or she had has actually practiced

34:26

half double

34:27

but we do not expect that the candidate

34:30

has actually succeeded with it

34:32

because that doesn't happen overnight

34:35

you you do not become

34:36

definitely not a super user in half dark

34:39

meaning that you can actually produce

34:42

you can succeed with it from day one so

34:44

this is a

34:45

step in between the knowledge section

34:48

and the level where you really

34:50

are capable of of being successful with

34:52

hub

34:53

as well yeah and that's what the master

34:55

level is all about

34:56

so now we're really getting serious here

34:59

so so this is about uh um

35:03

as you remember from from from the

35:05

pyramid uh we also say if you if you are

35:07

a master in half double

35:09

you are actually capable of of of

35:12

succeeding with it

35:13

producing really producing impact and

35:16

using less resources in terms of time

35:18

and new

35:18

resources in general yeah so court you

35:21

your prerequisites you need to be a

35:23

certified half double practitioner you

35:24

have to move your way up

35:26

the pyramid or the latter and um

35:31

you don't waste your time writing a

35:34

report if you are not sure that you've

35:35

actually been successful or you've been

35:37

to you have produced some

35:39

really really good results using half

35:41

double there's a training session here

35:42

as well

35:43

just like for foundation and and and

35:46

practitioner

35:47

and then we come to the certification

35:49

application which is and

35:51

definitely an extended report compared

35:53

to the to the

35:54

to the application you need to or the

35:57

report you need to prepare for the

35:58

practitioner level

36:00

and um of course you need here to um

36:03

to be um to be quite detailed about what

36:07

you have actually worked

36:09

worked on which project you have been

36:11

involved in

36:12

and what results you have produced here

36:15

and how you have been

36:17

success successful using half double and

36:19

comparing it

36:20

to maybe more traditional ways of

36:22

performing projects within your own

36:24

organization

36:25

and then apart from that you will also

36:27

be giving a case

36:29

uh oh that's at the interview yeah

36:32

so so again a lot of reflections and a

36:35

lot of learnings what have you

36:36

actually captured uh in terms of

36:39

learnings from your work with half dog

36:40

can you just supplement here yeah sure

36:42

so so again

36:44

this this uh sounds like a lot of work

36:47

and uh

36:47

it is definitely a lot of work yeah but

36:50

but it's not

36:51

only for our sake of course it's uh it's

36:54

actually more for your own sake because

36:56

the the thing that you get the chance to

36:59

to document some of your thoughts your

37:01

reflections uh

37:03

your ideas to move on and so on how you

37:06

will handle different obstacles and so

37:08

on

37:08

is is essential for you to succeed even

37:11

better

37:12

so these are the things that we will

37:14

discuss with you

37:15

and at the master certification

37:18

exam here so so it's it's it's actually

37:22

just as much for supporting you

37:25

in your journey than it is to to control

37:28

you but of course

37:29

of course we also need to see that that

37:32

you actually

37:33

do it the right way and you you deliver

37:35

impact obviously but

37:37

the other part is actually equally

37:40

important

37:42

yeah thanks johan and next step in in

37:46

in the certification process here for

37:48

master certification

37:49

is the interview and that is also

37:52

extended just like the report

37:54

uh so we are now speaking about or

37:56

preparing for a four-hour interview

37:59

and there are two main points on the

38:02

agenda of course the first one is your

38:04

report

38:05

the extended master report

38:09

where we will deep dive into that take a

38:11

look at

38:12

the results we have produced and discuss

38:14

that and

38:16

on top of that or besides that will also

38:19

be we handed a case

38:20

at the at the day of the interview that

38:22

you need to prepare

38:24

uh and you need to prepare for a

38:26

discussion

38:27

with the uh with the owner of the case

38:30

uh and you should see yourself as a

38:34

consultant maybe you should advise the

38:36

the the owner of the case how this could

38:38

be

38:39

about about the approach and how this

38:42

case how that assignment

38:43

could be handled using half double so

38:48

as you probably can see that we are

38:49

really moving up now and

38:51

and um

38:55

there's some quite high expectations to

38:57

you as a master

38:58

candidate actually to get the

39:00

certificate uh and there also should be

39:02

because if you have this a certificate

39:06

if you um once you have it you should

39:07

really be proud because it means that

39:09

you are you are capable and everybody

39:11

else know

39:12

here is a person who's capable of

39:13

actually producing

39:15

impact and be successful using half top

39:19

and and also a person who is presented

39:22

to a new case

39:22

and within a very short time can

39:26

can look into and actually have an idea

39:29

about

39:30

what steps should we take to to uh to

39:33

implement half double in this project

39:35

context here

39:36

so it's it's it's a bit similar with

39:39

some of the job interviews that some of

39:40

you maybe have attended

39:42

where you also get a case and you have

39:44

to

39:45

have to find a solution and then of

39:47

course this is not

39:48

how it should be but it's more a

39:50

discussion you're gonna say on

39:52

how could this be implemented yeah

39:56

okay uh let's take a look at the roadmap

39:59

here

40:00

that we have prepared um as i just said

40:02

we have been doing some

40:04

some tests here um in this first half of

40:07

2020

40:09

i was involved myself as a as a as an

40:11

assessor

40:12

and we had some very interesting and

40:14

promising uh interviews um

40:17

with around 10 candidates so which gave

40:20

us a lot of valuable feedback

40:23

which we of course uh have used and will

40:25

use to further improve

40:28

uh the the the the program that was our

40:31

at the practitioner level so which bring

40:34

us in the position

40:35

we're quite sure to launch this to go

40:37

live with the foundation and

40:39

practitioner

40:40

certification program uh in in the

40:43

second half of 2020 sorry

40:45

in in autumn it is it is actually ready

40:48

right now but we just need to uh to get

40:52

the partner organizations on board

40:53

in the in the proper way so we so we

40:56

make sure that the quality is

40:58

um is the right yeah another plans are

41:02

um to to also release the master

41:05

certification program in

41:07

first half of 2021 uh meaning next year

41:10

so that's a plan so far that's broke map

41:12

so that's what we're going for and then

41:14

we also presented it as at the

41:17

conference

41:18

uh on on march the third here uh some

41:21

three months ago

41:22

uh so nothing has changed here we we

41:25

still stick to this roadmap

41:28

yeah and uh so

41:31

um let's just summarize a bit here why

41:34

should you

41:35

consider after all becoming certified in

41:37

the half double methodology

41:39

uh what we say here is that again with a

41:43

very very strong focus on impact

41:45

creation uh using uh flow and leadership

41:49

um it's a great way for you actually to

41:51

to prove your ability to

41:52

successfully apply the methodology

41:57

and no doubt if you pass once you get to

42:00

the

42:01

petitioner level uh it would definitely

42:04

increase your market value

42:05

it's something new uh and you will

42:08

actually prove that you're capable of

42:11

adapting something new and and

42:13

practicing it

42:15

and again no doubt uh once you have

42:19

taken a brief look at the methodology it

42:21

is designed

42:22

and mostly applicable for agile

42:24

assignments so if you work agile we know

42:26

many

42:27

many of you do many organizations do

42:30

this is also

42:31

could be a great supplement to to the

42:34

method and the mindset and whatever you

42:36

already use

42:37

so that's also a good reason to why you

42:39

should

42:40

consider becoming certified in the half

42:42

double methodology

42:43

that's that's that's our answers uh to

42:46

the question

42:47

can we just have one sure yeah and as

42:50

some of you

42:50

might thinking when we already have

42:52

certifications we saw that

42:54

many of you already have certification

42:56

so what shall we do with this new one

42:58

here

42:59

is it is it pure competition or why do

43:02

we launch this uh

43:03

this after our certification the main

43:06

reason is that we believe

43:07

strongly that we deliver something new

43:10

something that there is not on the

43:12

shelves

43:13

so none of the existing

43:16

certifications has this strict focus on

43:19

um on impact uh so we have to prove that

43:23

impact has been has been delivered by

43:26

using impact flow leadership this is the

43:28

new thing

43:29

so so it's we don't see it as much as a

43:33

competitor more as an add-on to the

43:36

existing certifications

43:38

meaning that if you for example are

43:40

prince2 certified

43:42

could be safe scrum pmi hitman

43:45

whatever some of the others then then

43:48

half double can actually

43:49

work very well as an add-on where you

43:52

accelerate

43:53

the things you already know uh the

43:56

combat sensors you got from the previous

43:57

certifications

43:59

and so you can get even more out of your

44:02

prints too and so forth

44:03

this is uh this is the intention with

44:06

this uh half double uh

44:08

certification it's not either or you can

44:10

really use what you already have and get

44:12

even more out of it so

44:14

that was very good yeah yeah thanks okay

44:17

um now we are just almost at the end of

44:20

our presentation and

44:22

we just like we started we will end also

44:24

end with a with a poll

44:26

um so um just a short question for you

44:28

after what we have

44:29

presented here um would you consider

44:32

becoming certified in half double

44:34

within next year free

44:38

possible answers foundation practitioner

44:40

certification master or no

44:48

so

44:55

yeah we are we're watching this poll

44:57

here with a high

44:59

high degree of interest this is uh

45:03

very much as we expected it uh

45:06

thank you so much for for sharing your

45:09

your thoughts here and um

45:12

and again this gives us a pretty good

45:14

indication on

45:15

um and how this is is perceived thank

45:18

you so much

45:19

yeah thank you very much for your

45:20

answers yeah and for your

45:22

engagement so far yeah so um

45:26

now we have been talking for 45 minutes

45:30

actually what we planned and

45:33

there are different questions here in

45:35

the q a

45:37

so patrick can we take one at a time

45:48

so wow yeah

45:52

with two older guys here we i can have a

45:54

hard time is english

45:55

general certification language or world

45:58

certification

45:59

low alkalized in terms of language

46:09

can you explain this otherwise we are

46:13

crawling crawling into the camera

46:17

the first question is uh is english the

46:20

journal certification language or was

46:21

such a certification to be localized in

46:24

terms of language

46:25

very it's a very very good and

46:27

definitely relevant question

46:30

in the first place here we are rolling

46:32

it out in in denmark but

46:34

the whole material is made in

46:37

english as a start and then when that is

46:40

totally finalized also with the half

46:42

double um

46:44

certification book that that will go

46:46

into the training and so forth

46:48

when everything is is in place then it

46:51

will be translated into other languages

46:53

as well

46:54

so in the beginning until we have a very

46:56

clear baseline

46:57

then it's in english but later on it

47:00

will be in local languages

47:03

yeah and i can add to that from my

47:05

experience from the

47:07

test certification that we did earlier

47:10

this year

47:11

that the the repo that was at the

47:13

practitioner level

47:15

and all the reports was written in

47:16

english language i don't think it was

47:18

mandatory but the the candidates did

47:20

right but all the interviews was in

47:22

local language

47:24

so um national language that was

47:26

norwegian by the way but

47:28

so so uh we will continue with that so

47:32

even though the compendium well well i

47:34

guess um

47:35

throughout the year probably only be

47:38

available in english

47:39

we can do most of the certification in

47:41

in local language

47:42

yeah yeah and also our partner

47:45

organization they're

47:46

also free to deliver of course the

47:48

training in global language for example

47:50

if we're in denmark as we are

47:52

as we are at least uh and you have

47:55

a class full of danes then maybe it

47:58

doesn't make sense to have it in english

48:00

so of course the trainer can tailor it

48:02

so

48:03

so everything will be delivered in

48:06

danish

48:07

the reflection paper the exam and

48:10

everything as well

48:13

yeah one more question yeah for the ones

48:15

who already have half double training

48:17

can we apply

48:18

to the test directly

48:22

in we would not really recommend that

48:26

because we have had this saying

48:29

that we haven't really got hold

48:32

of what training has been delivered so

48:34

far

48:36

meaning that this is uh is a freeware

48:40

and nobody owns it so it's it's

48:42

accessible to everyone

48:44

so a person who has not been

48:48

been accredited or certified as a half

48:51

double trainer

48:52

has so far been able to deliver the

48:55

training

48:56

meaning that we have no idea about what

48:58

the quality is

49:00

so in the future it will be like even

49:03

though that you may

49:03

have had uh one day of half double

49:06

training somewhere that we don't know

49:08

anything about from the institute side

49:10

then then they can have an exam they can

49:14

give you everything but if you want a

49:16

certification

49:17

in the half double institute

49:20

then it has to be from as

49:23

a accredited certified partner

49:26

organization

49:27

where the trainer has to be certified

49:31

in at least the same level as he or she

49:34

is certifying so to say

49:38

so i think that was a long long note

49:52

yes the foundation certification

49:56

is for good and

49:58

the practitioner and the master uh lasts

50:01

for three years

50:02

and then when we get closer you will

50:06

get a kind reminder that if you want to

50:10

to extend it then then we have

50:14

uh another interview

50:17

based on a reflection or sorry uh and a

50:20

certification application

50:21

more or less the same as we did so we

50:24

need to make sure

50:25

that if you want to be a practitioner or

50:27

a master again

50:29

then you work with projects you deliver

50:33

the amount of of behavior and

50:36

impact as as we require to call you

50:40

a practitioner or master certified

50:44

yes one more question is it possible

50:47

to is it possible at all to collect

50:51

sufficient off-double experience in a

50:53

year to make the competition or

50:55

certification

50:57

yes it is yeah if you practice half

51:00

doubling in a year

51:01

definitely you will be you will be in a

51:03

good very good position to apply for

51:05

for the practitioner certification i

51:08

think the requirement

51:09

will go down to we will say at least six

51:11

months so

51:12

yeah maybe yeah maybe even less because

51:16

we also make sure that if you have some

51:20

jobs some works where you can actually

51:22

apply this

51:23

we're not talking about effect on the

51:25

practitioner level

51:27

so in principle if you're working on

51:29

these methods here and you of course

51:30

know a project management to a certain

51:33

degree because half double is relatively

51:35

difficult

51:37

then then then we have the ignite

51:40

session where you after that take the

51:43

foundation

51:44

and then it's actually possible for the

51:47

partner organizations to

51:48

within a month for example to have the

51:50

boost and within a month

51:52

after that again for example to have um

51:56

the practitioners session and right

51:58

after that after writing a little on

52:01

or not a little bit but writing this

52:03

certification application

52:05

then you can go to the practitioner so

52:07

three to four months

52:08

is actually uh also possible possible

52:11

yeah as long as you

52:12

recommend as long as you do it

52:16

yes a question here as a professor at

52:20

the business business school

52:21

i sometimes consider including half

52:24

double in my courses on project

52:25

management

52:26

with the foundation that would be

52:28

relevant for students without

52:29

much experience or would you consider a

52:32

lower level for students

52:37

basically as as we talk about foundation

52:41

it would definitely be you to your

52:43

benefit

52:43

if you do have some uh more broad

52:46

knowledge about what

52:48

project management competencies are all

52:49

about but you can go for it i mean

52:53

you can study there yeah sure you can

52:55

study the uh

52:57

the companion the theory and and and you

52:59

can apply for the foundation uh

53:01

examination it's all about knowledge

53:04

in brackets uh so so it's it's all about

53:07

understanding

53:08

half double so the answer is yes you can

53:10

do it uh but definitely

53:12

it will be to the benefit of the of the

53:14

students if they have a more broader

53:15

knowledge

53:17

actually we are working with two levels

53:19

of

53:20

partner organizations one star and two

53:23

star

53:24

and when it comes to for example

53:26

universities

53:29

professional schools and so on and then

53:32

we recommend the one star meaning that

53:36

the trainers or the lecturers the

53:39

assistant professors or professors they

53:42

are foundation certified usually they

53:45

don't

53:46

necessarily work on projects where they

53:48

can

53:49

implement these things or or create a

53:52

measurable impact and so on

53:54

and it's not really necessary for the

53:56

students so we recommend

53:58

a foundation level and

54:01

when the lecturer for example is

54:04

foundation certified

54:06

then the students can also go for the

54:09

foundation certification

54:11

but there is no hinder that that if for

54:14

example and

54:16

a lecturer at a university uh uses half

54:19

double

54:20

it explains half double it it takes it

54:23

into the

54:24

into the training the education

54:27

and uses it as as good as say here she

54:29

can

54:30

but then of course there is no

54:32

certification in the end

54:33

it takes that the lecturer or someone

54:37

from the organization

54:38

is certified on the one star level

54:46

one more question earlier

54:52

the master certification should these

54:54

projects have some specific criteria

54:58

so could you could you say it again so

55:00

regarding the marston certification

55:02

should these projects included in mars

55:04

certification have some space

55:06

specific criteria

55:10

the short answer for me is no

55:13

i think that the important thing is that

55:16

whatever

55:17

projects or assignment that you pick for

55:20

your

55:21

uh i would say as as basis for your

55:25

uh your practice and your uh your goal

55:29

uh of succeeding with half double you

55:31

should

55:32

have a good feeling god feeling that

55:35

these are actually

55:36

um these are um

55:40

how do you say that um they have they

55:43

they

55:43

they have a potential um they're really

55:47

good at potential

55:48

projects by means of which you can

55:50

actually produce good results

55:52

so but i would say no specific

55:53

requirements it's really up to you

55:55

to to have a feeling of course you can

55:58

always contact the institute

55:59

and and and talk to somebody uh about

56:02

whether this or this would be a

56:04

a good potential project for you uh in

56:07

in

56:07

in in your in in in

56:12

on your on your journey towards a master

56:15

certification

56:16

yeah you can you can say if you if you

56:18

do the sanity checking saying that

56:20

is there somehow that you can implement

56:23

the use of

56:25

of impact flow leadership then then you

56:28

are pretty well off

56:29

it can be in many many different sectors

56:31

it can be in many different

56:32

projects it doesn't necessarily have to

56:34

be a big and very very complex project

56:36

to do so

56:42

um

56:46

for the different certification levels

56:48

yeah and

56:49

we can we can say that because it is

56:52

we're going to do this that that it is

56:56

the partner organizations who will

57:00

ask for you to be certified

57:03

meaning that that the partner

57:06

organization there would be free

57:07

competition on

57:08

the pricing and so forth and there will

57:11

be a fee

57:12

to the institute the fee is very low

57:16

i can say for for the foundation because

57:19

we want to expand this as fast as

57:22

possible so we don't want to put

57:24

financial obstacles into it uh

57:27

the practitioner will be a little more

57:29

expensive and the

57:30

master will be a little more expensive

57:32

but but the price for the certification

57:35

is is hidden within the price that

57:38

you're paying

57:39

to the partner organization who will

57:41

will certify you

57:43

but it's uh it's non-profit so you can

57:46

say the institute

57:48

doesn't make any money from this it's

57:50

just to make sure that

57:52

that we have the license for the

57:55

for the multiple choice test for example

57:58

after the foundation

57:59

just to give a relatively low salary to

58:03

the

58:03

to the assessors for the for the

58:06

practitioner and the master

58:09

so so so the price depends on

58:12

what you pay to the partner organization

58:15

yes oh yeah we still have time

58:20

am i only required to be foundation

58:22

certified

58:23

to teach others for the foundation exam

58:26

yes that was a short answer

58:31

but my first one was

58:34

okay then let's take one more yeah let's

58:36

do that

58:37

last is asking since he unfortunately

58:40

missed

58:41

the first 10 minutes of the webinar he's

58:44

saying that he is

58:44

participating in the practitioner

58:46

training offered by implement at the

58:48

moment

58:49

the second session is tomorrow for him

58:51

how does this

58:52

click into the certification setup it

58:55

clicks

58:56

perfectly and in the end you will be

58:59

offered

59:00

to take this formal half double

59:02

institute

59:03

certification because implement is one

59:06

of the partner organizations

59:12

okay thank you very much

59:16

thanks for all your nice

59:19

questions here and thanks for

59:22

participating

59:24
